The extended lees-ageing on this wine allows for a restrained fruit profile of passion fruit and pear on the nose. While bright and fresh, the palate is remarkably full, with intense concentration, zest and richness in the finish. Our old-world-inspired Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed now or up to eight years from vintage.
Vibrant, golden yellow in colour with glints of light green. The nose is led by bright lemon and lime, with the perfect amount of oak and butterscotch backing up the natural fruit. The weight of the wine is in great harmony, showing linear acidity and richness in the finish, all the while supported by delicate oak structure.
Another classic vintage, this wine will age gracefully for the next 10 years and pairs beautifully with rich, creamy pasta dishes.
The maiden vintage of Per Ara was created during one of the smallest yielding harvests in many years. Selected from an old vine Shiraz vineyard on the property, the aim was to craft a terroir-driven rosé with extreme concentration and elegance. Two months of lees contact in stainless steel was allowed for subtle plushness and body. As the only wine in our range not requiring significant aging to reach optimal drinking, the Catalan phrase ‘per ara’ translates into English as ‘for now’.
The name pays homage to the Roman poet, Ovid, who is quoted on the front label of this wine: “Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it there will be a fish.”
The nose is robust with generous, ripe dark fruit; black cherry and rose. The oak plays an important supporting role, both with the aromatics and the palate. The wine is bold and rich, but at the same time bright and effortlessly structured. Firm, savoury tannins lead into a remarkably long, textured finish.
Cellar for up to 20 years from vintage.
